Seth Fabry was our top matric achiever in 2024 with eight distinctions.

His achievement did not come as a surprise to him, he said, it was something he set his mind on from Grade 8, and he did what was necessary to get there.

“I had been getting those sorts of marks for some time, so I felt that there was an expectation from a lot of people that I would repeat that in the Matric exams and that further motivated me,” he said. “I tried to work hard consistently throughout my school career. I got a lot of support from my teachers, Ms Standish-White particularly, who was my FS Maths teacher and who encouraged me in everything.

“I got 90% for FS Maths and that is the mark that I am proudest of.”

He also gives credit to fellow learner Yusuf Sayed who was his study partner since Grade 8. “We prepared together all along the way and the rivalry between us played a big part in my success,” he said.

“Then there were my parents, who made it all possible and who were always behind me.”

Seth participated actively in sport while at school. He was in the 1st Cricket team and also played rugby, “I was in the team that won the Johnny Waite Knockout competition and, until these results, that was the highlight of my time at Jeppe,” he said.

He will be going to Wits to study Actuarial Science this year.
