JBA Newsletter July 2026
At Jeppe High School for Boys, we believe that great schools do more than educate young men within their gates.
The JBA founded in 2009 exists to build the bridge between the School and Jeppe Old Boys, as well as other interested staff parents and friends who have supported, and continue to support Jeppe’s efforts to remain one of South Africa’s foremost government schools.
For more than 130 years, Jeppe has been more than a school; it is a living community that shapes character, sustains values and binds generations. Whether arriving as a scholar, returning as an old boy, or supporting us as a friend, you join an identity forged over decades of service, integrity and quiet leadership.
At Jeppe we teach more than facts. We teach responsibility — to ourselves, to our peers and to the wider community. Our traditions and daily routines instil resilience, respect and a commitment to excellence that remain with men long after they leave the campus. Those traits are visible in classrooms and on playing fields, in halls of learning and in acts of service; they are the measure of who we are.
This document sets out how the Association intends to build on that inheritance. It outlines plans to advance educational opportunity, strengthen alumni engagement and expand the support networks that sustain our boys through their school years and beyond. Our aim is to ensure that future generations enjoy the same rich foundations of morals and ethics that have defined Jeppe for over a century, while adapting thoughtfully to the needs of a changing world.
To every scholar, old boy and friend who shares this journey: thank you. Your time, counsel and generosity keep the Jeppe spirit alive. Together we honour our past and invest in a future where every member of the Jeppe family can flourish with integrity, purpose and pride.

Renovations focused on upgrading facilities in Jeppe High School for Boys’ largest boarding house — including dormitories, bathroom and kitchen facilities, as well as leisure and recreational areas. Project started March 2022 and was completed May 2025.
Jeppe’s ambitions extend well beyond the classroom. The projects below represent our commitment to building world-class facilities and securing the school’s long-term future — and each one depends on the generosity of our community to become a reality.
This project is born out of necessity to provide world-class gym facilities for all learners at Jeppe High School for Boys. By completing this project we will ensure that we remain competitive in our sporting abilities and provide access to all. The project adopts a phased approach — Phase 1, the changerooms, was completed in April 2026. The High Performance Center has been dedicated to the Jackson Family to commemorate their family’s long unwavering service to the school.
Securing adjacent properties in our precinct is a strategic imperative and critical to Jeppe’s long-term sustainability. By increasing both our footprint and capacity by converting properties into quality boarding facilities delivering over 85 more boarders by 2028, the return on investment will yield results for the school almost immediately. The vision of improved boarding particularly in Johannesburg will set us apart from our contemporaries and reset the foundation to becoming the best public boys boarding school in South Africa. This project is set to grow boarding revenue and build sustainable income for the future.
As part of the ongoing strategy to improve boarding facilities and alongside growing the precinct, it is critical that we upgrade Droste House to establish our footprint as a premium boarding school with world-class dormitories and infrastructure.
