What makes Jeppe's club offerings appealing to students?

"Clubs are where passion meets community, where like-minded individuals gather to pursue a common interest and create lifelong bonds."

Clubs

Angling is a relatively new activity at Jeppe High School for Boys. It was introduced in response to request from the boys that we accommodate it and the club was duly formed, in keeping with our extra-curricular philosophy of offering activities to cate frothe interests of every learner.

Angling is a hobby, but it does have a competitive component as well, and it can be an enriching educational activity. Apart from the learning the technical skills involved, the activity requires perseverance, patience and determination, sometimes under difficult physical conditions.

It is also a means of connecting boys with nature and instilling the principles of respect for animals and plants and of conservation.

There are also to social advantages of spending plenty of time with like-mined friends and of travelling to new, and familiar places together.

There are a number of local, regional and national fishing competitions that Jeppe enters, and expert advice is sometimes sought to prepare the boys for those events.

All angling at Jeppe is done on a catch-and-release basis.

YOU SHOULD JOIN THE ANGLING CLUB IF YOU:

Have been fishing before, or you want to learn how to become involved in it.
Enjoy the outdoors.
Have an interest in nature and believe in the conservation of plants and animals.

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” –  N.H. Kleinbaum, Dead Poets Society.

Join us as we unpack the mysteries of God’s Word together and pray for and encourage one another. In general, we have a short message followed by questions and answers. All are welcome; even if you are not a Christian and have some deep questions or just want a place to chill at break.

Don’t know how to swim? Can swim, but need some stroke correction? Get down to the pool area as soon as you can. We are here to help you in a non-threatening environment to learn the basics of swimming and develop an extremely important life skill.

The aim of the club is to capture and share the Jeppe stories through the visual art of taking good quality photographs and video. Your own camera is required for photographers and you must be available on Saturdays and week nights to attend events.
