Jeppe first and second cricket teams win the Johnny Waite Knockout Trophy

The Jeppe first cricket team won the Johnny Waite Knockout Trophy, beating Helpmekaar by 56 runs in the final, It was Jeppe’s 2nd title – the first was back in 1989.

Jeppe batted first and got to 153/7 in their 20 overs, thanks mainly to a 99-run opening partnership from Tshepo Stafa (53 runs off 35 balls) and Kyle Jackson (48 runs off 35 balls).

Helpmekaar’s chase started brightly, but the Jeppe bowlers pegged them back and took wickets regularly to ensure an emphatic win in the end.

Jeppe’s second XI also won their JWKO Trophy, making it a rare double and a great year for our cricket section. Congratulations to the players and coaches.
