Following the provincial rounds of the Alexforbes Battleboards championship, that took place on Saturday 24 May, the semi-finals took place on Saturday 26 July with 64 participating schools from across the provinces.
The event played out with schools playing in pools of eight from different provinces, with the top two schools from each pool qualifying to play through to the final on the 9th of August.
Jeppe qualified with a full score in its pool, winning seven out of seven rounds. “The boys will bring their best as they move on to an, unfortunately I must admit, challenging final. However, I am super proud of the boys who will bring their best game,” said Chess MIC. Ms Maimela.
The players advancing to the finals are Ngaakudzwe Zingoni, Gabriel Waring, Ethan Lake, Aaron Francis, Rhys Robinson, Connor Francois, Ndivho Ramavhulela, Darius Naidoo, Onalenna Nteleki and Edward Mbende Benga.
