The under-15E rugby team had tea with the Headmaster on Thursday as a reward for their performances on the field so far this season.
Mr Jackson explained that the weekly Headmaster’s Tea is a tradition that recognises achievements in all areas of school life. “We honour our top teams when they do well,” he said, “but we also like to recognise those boys who don’t usually get a lot of attention, like yourselves.”
The U15Es typically play one of the early games, on the furthest away field, on match days. This team, doing that, have won all their matches so far, including big wins over Pretoria Boys High School and Westville – both teams that they lost to as U14Es last year.
“We thank you for your efforts,” Mr Jackson said, “and we encourage you to keep going, there are many examples of boys who started off where you are now, who went on to play in the top teams in their senior years.”
The U15Es, coached by Mr Tsoai and Mr Hlabisa have beaten Pretoria 32-5, St Stithians 29-10, Westville 40-5 and the Northcliff U15D team 33-15.
