Jeppe debater Rossen Zarkov and his team Thalia Grace won the Junior Division at the South Africa National Schools Debating Championship late last year, with a record of seven out of eight wins.

Throughout the knockout rounds, the team swept through and culminated in the final round where they were up against the Western Cape. The motion for the final was “This house supports the concept of a borderless Africa”.

In a unanimous decision, Rossen and his team won, with Rossen being named best speaker in the final.

He is currently involved in a trial round for the South African team that will be going to the World Schools Debating Championships later in the year.
