On Saturday, 9 May, Chess Club proudly participated in the Alexforbes Battleboards Championship Provincial Round. Throughout the tournament, the team displayed incredible resilience, determination, and composure under pressure. Every player rose to the challenges before them, refusing to give up and embracing the opportunity to learn and grow.

Their hard work and commitment paid off, as Jeppe High School for Boys was crowned the 2026 Gauteng Champions, securing this prestigious title for the second consecutive year.

We celebrate this outstanding achievement with the team and commend them for their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the competition. We also acknowledge all the other schools who participated and contributed to such a competitive and memorable tournament. A big congratulations to them as well.

A sincere thank you to the organisers for creating and hosting this incredible opportunity for young chess players to showcase their talent and passion for the game.
