A solid start for our football teams

Our 1st and age group A Football teams got their season going by playing in the Challenge Cup tournament last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The 1st and U15A teams were at St David’s with the U14s and U16s at St Stithians. The U14s and U15s were in festivals, while the U16 and 1st team competitions were tournaments.
Pride of place goes to the U16s, who won their tournament. They beat Grey College 1-0 in the final after beating Michaelhouse 1-0 in the quarterfinal and KES 2-1 in the semi.
The U14As won five out of six in their festival, scoring 23 goals and conceding eight, The beat Parktown 4-2 in the “main game”, the finals game of the festival.
The 1st team were in a tough pool at the St David’s Tournament and missed out narrowly on making the quarterfinals. That put them into the playoffs for ninth place and they won all three games there to finish ninth.
Overall, it was a solid start to the season. The four Jeppe teams played 24 matches, won 14; drew 5; and lost 5.
